Explore Tanzania by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 7 days, and refresh on amazing Tanzania wildlife safari to Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park in 5-days.

Climbing overview: 7-days Lemosho route itinerary

Lemosho is the beautiful route to trek Mt. Kilimanjaro, it approaches the Mountain from the western side, it’s less populated and easy to climb compared to the rest of the routes. On the first and second days, the hiking trail is gentle passing through the mountain rain forest that makes climbing easier. Some climbers hike even for 6 days, but it’s highly recommended to 7/8 days. The route is good for acclimatization and it’s in favor even for children and the old people, successful summit chance is above 90%.

Tour type: Climbing Kilimanjaro can be done as family, private group, open group joining or sole climber.

Activity: Hiking/climbing.

Accommodation: Comfort tents camping.

Attractions: Small wild animals in the rain forest, different mountain vegetation zones, high elevation points, Mount Kilimanjaro sceneries and its panoramic view.

ITINERARY:

Day 00: Arrival

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll meet our office representative, followed by an hour drive to the hotel in Moshi Town. After having a short rest at the hotel, our mountain guide will meet you to check with your climbing gears and equipment. If some gears will be missing, our guide will help you on how to rent those missing gears from the rental shops.

Day 01: From Hotel to Londorossi gate (2100m) to Mti Mkubwa (2821m)

  • Distance: 5km
  • Time taken to hike: 3 hours
  • Habitat: Mountain forest

A 3-hours private drive from the hotel in Moshi to starting point, Londorosi gate. At the gate registration, payment and entrance permit process will take place while porters are sorting and weighing the luggage.

After all process is done, the hike starts to the first camp, Mti Mkubwa campsite. The trail is gentle, and it’s passing through the rain forest. At the campsite you will have to spend the remaining time for rest, dinner, and overnight.

DAY 02: From Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 Camp (3840M)

  • Distance: 16.5km
  • Time taken: 10 hours
  • Habitat: Montane forest zone to Moorland zone

After breakfast, you will hike to Shira 2 campsite, leaving the rain forest and start approaching moorland vegetation. Gently hike across the plateau to Shira 2 camp, crossing some streams; it’s a good path for acclimatization. You will enter shira 2 camp late afternoons, spending the remaining time for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 03: From Shira 2 to Barranco camp (3950m) via Lava tower (4642m)

  • Distance: 10km
  • Time taken: 8 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine desert.

Hiking to the high point Lava tower, a short break for acclimatization and lunch, before hiking down to BarrancoValley Camp, viewing the great Barranco Wall. The camp is busy and crowded because it’s the hub for 3-different routes (Machame, Umbwe, and Lemosho route). At the camp you will spend the remaining time for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 04: From Barranco to Karanga camp

After breakfast at Barranco camp you will have a short hike to Karanga camp, where you will spend the remaining time for hot lunch, dinner, and overnight.

Day 05: From Karanga Camp to Barafu base camp (Kilimanjaro ‘uhuru’ summit night)

At barafu base camp you will have a rest, dinner, and early sleeping because you will awake at mid-night for the summit attempt.

Around 01:00am, guide will awake you to get well prepared with the summit gears, warm clothes that can accommodate up to -10 degree Celsius. After all process is done, the guide will slowly lead you to hike up for the summit attempt, passing through Stella point, (5685m) to Uhuru Peak (5895m). Congratulation! You have made it to the top of Africa, now you are standing at the Africa’s highest point ‘Uhuru Peak’

Day 06: From summit (Uhuru Peak) to barafu-Mweka Camp

The beginning of the sixth day will catch you still at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, if the weather is good, you will be able to spend some time there, taking a beautiful photo of your lifetime African Adventure while sunrises, drinking tea on your thermal bottle before start descending down to barafu camp.

At barafu camp you will have time for breakfast and rest, before hiking down to Mweka camp for lunch, dinner, and overnight.

Day 07: From Mweka camp to Mweka gate.

It’s the end of 7 days Mount Kilimanjaro adventure, morning of this day you will be packing all of your stuff ready to leave the park. Crew will be organizing and sorting all stuffs for marking the end of the tour. They will be singing, celebrating, and congratulating you for a successful climb. After all that you will hike down to Mweka gate, where you will sign out the park, and receive certificates for those who made their summit attempt successfully, followed by an hour-private drive to the hotel in town, ready for rest and continuing with other schedule.

Safari overview:

5-days Tarangire, Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti National Park.

Capture all the action attractions in three National parks, experience the magical 5 days, 4 nights of pure wildlife safari and nature, when you visit Serengeti during the great wildebeest migration, Tarangire National park and Ngorongoro crater.

Day by day itinerary:

Day 08: Full day game drive in Tarangire National Park

Drive from Moshi/Arusha to Tarangire National Park, full day game drive in Tarangire National Park; exit the park late afternoon to Mto wa mbu town for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Accommodation type: Comfort lodge, bed, and breakfast, outside the park

Day 09: Half day Serengeti National Park dame drive.

Long drive from Mto wa Mbu town to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro crater, having time to view the crater from the upper rim and pay some visits to Maasai Boma while you are on the way to Serengeti. You will enter Serengeti park afternoon hours, where you will spend an hour for registration and lunch.

After lunch you will start an afternoon game drive in Serengeti starting from the south to central of Serengeti Park. Evening hours you will drive to Into Wild Africa Tented lodge for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 10: Full day game drive Central-North Serengeti

Game drive will start early in the morning so you will be able to spot Leopards that are very rare to be seen during the daytime and difficult to be seen on the other National Parks. Game drive will continue up to the afternoon where you will have a short rest for lunch before continuing up to late evening, then drive back to Mbali mbali Soroi Serengeti lodge for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Accommodation: Comfort lodge within the park.

Day 11: Half day game drives Central-South Serengeti.

After breakfast you will have a half day game drive before exiting the Serengeti National Park, to Ngorongoro for rest, dinner, and overnight.

Additional tour visit to Olduvai Gorge is an optional with some extra payments.

Day 12: Full day game drive in Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will start a game drive at the rim of the Crater before down-sloping to the Crater where you will discover the wonderful nature of creation. In the crater you will see different species of birds, hippo pools, herds of Wildebeest, Zebra, Buffalo, Lions, and black Rhino on its natural habitat, and if lucky you can see a Leopard and cheater. Afternoon times you will have a rest for lunch at picnic site near the large hippo pool, after a lunch break you will continue with the game drive up to late afternoon when you will drive back to Panama Garden Hotel in  Moshi or hotel of your choice for rest, dinner, and overnight.
